Fruits of the Spirit
Galatians 5:22, 23
But the fruit of the Spirit is; love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance; against such there is no law.
The works of the flesh consist of a repulsive list; adultery, fornication, uncleanness, idolatry, witchcraft, wrath [anger] strife, murders and drunkenness and the servants of evil bring darkness and destruction to all those surrounding them.
The messengers of God bring light and life through the indwelling of the Spirit and it is remarkably easy to distinguish exactly who you are serving by comparison.
The fruit of the Spirit is the result of the Holy Spirit taking full control of your life; these attributes are not something we work on to develop within ourselves.
What we are, and have, is only the result of how much He possesses us and controls us, the measurement is accurate. THE ANOINTING OF GOD IS MEASURED ACCORDING TO OUR OBEDIENCE TO HIM.
LOVE is the supernatural ability to love unconditionally by loving the sinner and not the sin, regardless of the outward condition. Our motives must be pure and not a mere desire for power gifts as Simon the sorcerer offered money to buy these gifts.
PERIODIC MANIFESTATIONS of the fruit of the Spirit is an indication the self dominates for the rest of the time.
FAITH is the ability to operate all the eight key gifts and maintain consistency. The
GIFTS DRAW ATTENTION TO MAN, AND THE FRUITS DRAW ATTENTION TO GOD.
MEEKNESS; the meek inherit the earth, a fact overlooked by many, especially in the business sector. Pride and adulation is deplorable, and God acknowledges the proud and arrogant from afar.
LONGSUFFERING: different situations require more longsuffering and patience. We may be repelled by sin, but we need patience with sinners for God to perfect them.
JOY: the vibrant attraction to Christ is joyous and God inhabits the praised of His people. Satan deceives the church; a sad, long-faced, suffering and unhappy church would become more spiritual when they are joyous. JOY GIVES NEW STRENGTH.
GOODNESS: the heart that is compassionate and kind always thinks of others, it is not self-seeking or self-serving. Goodness gives, shares and blesses, it is kind and forgiving. The FRUIT OF GOODNESS SHINES LIKE A BEACON in a greedy, selfish, spiteful and self-seeking world.
PEACE: there is little peace in the turbulent, tempestuous world we live in, we strive hard to aspire to reach that peace in many nations with the ambassadors of peace but is of little avail. Terrorism, crime, divorce, separations and strife in families and the nations have been robbed of any lasting peace. HAS THE WORLD FORSAKEN THE PRINCE OF PEACE? He alone gives peace, and when our hearts are at peace with God, we will experience the Peace of God, which surpasses the human understanding. We need the Holy Spirit Peace.
GENTLENESS: this is an inspiring attribute, which stands out starkly in comparison to a rude and aggressive world. WHERE HAS THE GENTLENESS OF THE WORLD GONE? Jesus was gentle with the little children, spoke softly to Mary at the tomb of her brother, and looked with profound compassion towards Peter when he denied Him. Proverbs 15: 1 states that a soft answer turns away wrath, but grievous words stir up anger. The cry of our heart should be, JESUS BATHE US IN GENTLENESS.
TEMPERANCE: the lack of temperance causes us to sway and stagger from one extreme to another. It is the cause of drunkenness, adultery, violence, obesity, cults and extreme fanaticism and weird fashions. The sad fact is, that lack of temperance causes a tendency to follow various erroneous teachings and leaders.
WITHIN THE SEED BED OF INTEMPERANCE, ERROR FLOURISHES AND GIVES BIRTH IS EXTREMISM.
The true church of God is a WELL-BALANCED Church, and the true saints OF GOD ARE POISED AS A STATELY QUEEN.
